Intent

At Kippax Greenfield, we provide a rich, challenging and ambitious PE curriculum. Our curriculum is underpinned by 10 main goals which are shared across all of our BLP schools. These shared goals include children being able to:

  1. know what they are doing and how they are doing it
  2. are provided with 80% practical time
  3. have time to practise and embed their fundamental motor skills
  4. be challenged
  5. receive feedback 'in the moment' on how they can improve
  6. have their learning activities adapted accordingly to meet their individual needs
  7. develop their subject-specific vocabulary through the explicit sharing of this
  8. understand healthy participation
  9. have an understanding of rules, strategies and tactics
  10. have access to competition when their knowledge and skills allow them to embrace this

At the heart of the PE curriculum lie our Greenfield values

Respect - This is essential for a productive and vibrant learning environment. We also ensure preconceptions around diversity, gender and stereotyping within sport are challenged.

Resilience - We equip our children with the ability to show resilience by ensuring our curriculum is sequenced carefully to build their competences from simple to complex.

Responsibility - Children demonstrate responsibility in PE by progressively building their ability to reflect on their learning, either through self or peer feedback. They also ensure our equipment is cared for both within PE lessons and when taking part in sports in their free time.

Collaboration - Children develop their ability to collaborate through the development of an understanding of the rules, strategies and tactics and the need for teamwork when participating in different games.

Aspiration - Aspiration is embedded within our sports curriculum primarily through the intentional selection of our house names. These are all named after local sports heroes to provide children with a mirror to reflect their own Yorkshire identities but also a window to allow them to understand the aspirational opportunities that are available to them.
