The 'PE and sport premium' was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and school sport in primary schools across England. The £150 million per year funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health, and Culture, Media and Sport. This funding is allocated directly to primary schools and is ring-fenced. This means it may only be spent on improving the provision of PE and sport in schools.
At Kippax Greenfield Primary School, we use our sports premium funding to provide additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the physical education, physical activity and sport we provide. 30% of our PE and sport premium funding is used centrally for a coordinated vision across the Brigshaw Learning Partnership and Trust. This allows our children to compete in a range of inter-school sports competitions throughout the school year.
